The permanent flight from the Niger and Africa is just as bad as the pell-mell retreat from Afghanistan except they never even had a strategy here to begin with - it's hard to call the mission a failure since they never even had the brains to state a mission.
The only thing they are getting better at is keeping a lid on these withdrawals so they have literally blacked out the news media on the subject. There was more transparency in Orwell's government in 1984 and at least you heard something. Here, it is like they were never there and this isn't even happening. It's the black hole of information where nothing not even light can escape.
There was never anything long term in mind. The only concept these Fools believe in is 'Well, here's a CHANCE, so let's Put our Troops in.'
The very idea that you need to have a *reason* to deploy somewhere is lost. This is late stage Empire shenanigans: By reflex you just keep fighting... & you keep losing.
Love it. Great article. I have some thoughts on this and some of your other work that my current series is working towards in the next few articles this week and early next. Mainly in line with how the lack of unity within different parts of the American society puts us at such a huge disadvantage with any part of the world that it's gotten to the point where, as you've said on the podcast, skinny kids committed to a cause can through themselves at a tank, and how jacked up a guy is doesn't matter.
We've been able to paper over the West's disunity for 50+ years, since the sexual revolution, but the birds are coming home to roost.
The West still has several advantages. America is still a 'nation with access to the resources of a Continent' (for instance). Also, the issue with disunity can still be resolved somewhat, albeit it involves a lot of 'ground game' in a blitz fashion.
That all being put out as caveats... I agree with you in general that Westerners, writ large, have basically eschewed larger-order Civilizational identities to their detriment.
Yeah, a large part of the problem is that they're not serious about using their own resources, at all. And, as you said, they'd have to blitz the unity thing. We'll see if they do. Caveats all around.
We'll see how they do. I see them retreating from the world stage in large part for a long time. Hopefully before they REALLY punch someone in the mouth, so that they are allowed to do so in peace.
But the Americans have bigger problems than the Chinese doing business in West Africa.
They have a Tri-Civilizational conflict coming up. & the best 'play' left on the table is to negotiate with one (or more) of these parties peacefully before things get Kinetic & a 3 vs 1 'Drubbing' commences in Brutal fashion.
Within the combined west there's been the demographics that have been covered up with high levels of immigration to supply labour and keep various ponzi schemes afloat. Now to the shock of euro elites they find their "israel first" policy being challenged. Now even with de-industrialisation the various western militaries are experiencing recruitment and retention problems. And here we are into the third year of the SMO and various supply and industry issues remain unaddressed; and that's because modern western leadership is dominated by lawyers and financial shysters whose expertise rests on "redistributing wealth" upwards.
Now an increasing irrelevant IMF is sounding the warning on US debt unsustainability. The failing intellectual infrastructure cannot see what is front and centre; a decrepit oligarchy that can no longer hide it's real self from public view of the global majority. The empty lifeless sloganeering is no longer having the magical effect.
I thought I'd ask, is there any connection between these deployments and some of the climate change projects in the sahel like that green wall? Or is it strictly over the mineral deposits?
However, the rate at which the Empire is imploding is such that 'Nobody has the luxury to plan or whatnot' anymore.
You'll see a lot of soldiers, mercenaries, etc abandoned en masse, with little regard. Ditto for the deposits & projects, which will be abandoned rapidly.
There is a quote that 'No plan survives first contact with the enemy'... there should also be a quote to the effect 'No plan, however foolproof, can withstand a hasty collapse.'
^This is basically what American 'Elite' & leadership currently face everywhere, all at once.

Exactly right.
There was never anything long term in mind. The only concept these Fools believe in is 'Well, here's a CHANCE, so let's Put our Troops in.'

Golly Jee, wonder why that is? 😂

There is also the problem of China trying to monopolize the mining of rare earth elements in the region.
Sure:

There is, yes:
However, the rate at which the Empire is imploding is such that 'Nobody has the luxury to plan or whatnot' anymore.
